Climate activist and Organizing secretary

Prottoy Baidya is a Climate activist and Organizing secretary of We Can Cox’s Bazar. He Completed his graduation in B.Sc. in Fisheries (Hons.) at Patuakhali Science & Technology University. He is currently an Intern with The Earth, which is Bangladesh youth-led non-profit organization focuses on capacity building and climate change, collaborating with 35 partners.

In 2019, he attended the International Conference On Climate Impacts On Sunderban, which was held in India. In 2020, he participated as a parliamentarian in the Bangladesh Model Youth Parliament. In 2021, he completed a course called “Exploring the Ocean, Exploring the Planet Earth,” which was organized by the Blue Green Foundation and OCTOPHIN. This motivated him more to study the knowledge of the ocean, the defining feature of this Blue Planet.

In 2022, His WE Can Cox’s Bazar team organized the SDG Youth Summit in Cox’s Bazar, featuring international students, experts, and local youth. In September, He participated in a workshop on Clean Air and Renewable Energy for Bangladesh. In February 2023, he participated in a Movers Workshop, raising awareness about the UN Sustainable Development Goals and encouraging youth to take action.

He believes that in the contemporary world, everything is changing along with Mother Nature. Still, our country is lacking in awareness because of minimal resources and expertise in environmental science. To contribute and to support more, he wants to take initiatives. By playing a pioneering role in protecting nature, his desire is to see Bangladesh as eco-friendly.
